Japuji Sahib, is the first book of the holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib. It contains 41 verses only. It is compiled by Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji. In obedience with his master's orders, Guru Angad selected appropriate verses and gave Japuji Sahib its present form during the last decade of Guru Nanak's life.
Its theme provides knowledge to an average man as to how he should attain spiritual perfection. It favours man’s participation in the affairs of the world, combined with an integration of wisdom and selfless activity. Japuji Sahib describes the basic concept of Sikhism i.e. devotional worship (Bhakti or Simran). The best time for meditation of Japuji Sahib is the dawn time (means the ambrosial hour)
